Different rates have different cancellation policies; your cancellation policy is shown when booking, and in your confirmation email.  While we sympathize with emergencies, unforeseen events, as well as mild and severe storms, we must adhere to our cancellation policies regardless of the circumstance.   A late cancellation, early check-out, or no show will be billed for the full booking.  All cancellations or rescheduling of reservations are charged a $50 administrative fee. All cancellation requests must be made in writing by email.  We do not accept cancellations via phone.

We highly recommend you purchase travel insurance to cover any unexpected situations that may arise.

Quoted rates do not include a 9% State Occupancy Tax. Every effort is made to accommodate you in the room reserved.  While it happens rarely, and usually because of an unforeseen circumstance, we do reserve the right to change your room if necessary.

children, extra guests, housekeeping & pets

The inn was designed with couples in mind.  Each room only has one bed without the possibility of a cot.

Children (under 18 years of age) are allowed only with advance permission.  The modern design incorporates geometric angles, staircases, and other potential hazards, so we are not always the best fit for young children.   Regardless of age, the above noted occupancy limits still apply.

We take your privacy seriously, and will not enter your room unless requested or necessary.  In keeping with our eco-friendly practices, towels are changed after every second night of your stay.  For extended stays, bed linens are changed once weekly.

Pets are not permitted at A Stone Wall Inn. While at one point in the past we had allowed them, unfortunately, too many problems arose.

trip insurance & weather

We're in the mountains of Vermont, and sometimes we get severe weather.  Our regular polices will prevail unless the Governor of Vermont has declared a State of Emergency which affects our area.  While this may seem extreme, there are many people who come to our State specifically because of these conditions, whether because of the optimal skiing or kayaking, or other kinds of activities that these circumstances present.

Because life and/or Mother Nature sometimes undermine the best laid plans, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance.

woodstove safety

Also, we've got a newfangled high tech fire alarm system.  If it goes off, it will send rescuers scrambling to the inn to save your life- that's why we only allow our trained staff to operate our wood stoves. If used improperly, the alarm will go off.

guest conduct

Vermont State Law prohibits smoking in public accommodations.  Smoking is allowed outside provided cigarette butts are disposed of properly, and not left on the deck and/or grounds.  Guest acknowledges that a minimum charge of $250 will be applied for odor elimination if you choose to ignore this rule.

Candles, incense or open flames are not permitted because of the potential for fire, smoke damage, melted wax stains or false fire alarms.  Additional charges will be applied for cleaning and repair, and in the event of fire alarm activation, you will be liable for fines received from the fire department.

It is expected that equipment available for guest use (sauna, hot tub, refrigeration, entertainment, etc.) will be used in accordance with the instructions provided.

If there are damages beyond normal wear, your credit card on file will be billed for these damages and for loss of use because of said damage.   These charges may include food/wine stains, damaged linens, broken or missing items, violations of any policies, etc.

This inn is also our home, and we take great pride in welcoming guests into it.  This inn has been decades in the planning and construction process:  please afford it the respect it deserves. We reserve the right to refuse service and eject any guest without refund, if they are creating disturbances, flagrantly violating policies, and/or enabling conditions that could cause injury to other guests, or to the infrastructure of the inn.
